Jackson Furniture History

1933 W. Ray Jackson opens his Upholstery Company - manufacturing stationary sofas and chairs.
1936 First shipments to Sears Roebuck and Company.
1941 Cleveland Chair Company purchased by W. Ray Jackson. Ownership held by Jackson Family for over half a century. Currently one of the Largest family owned furniture companies.
1951 First shipments to Montgomery Wards.
1972 Jackson Northeast Plant opened in North Virginia -Heavy orientation on promotional groups with matching recliners.
1990 Jackson Northeast began producing and marketing "Packed Stock" Living Room Groups.
1993 Jackson began producing and marketing "Packed Stock" Living Room Groups.
1996 Company began global sourcing with leather upholstery, produced in Italy.
1998 Jackson begins "Cut & Sew" program with Brazilian Tanneries for U.S. assembly.
2001 Jackson introduces several correlated wood trim groupings with occasional pieces.
2002 Jackson begins joint venture near Shanghai, China to centralize and professionalize overseas operations, including "Cut & Sew" suede, leather and jacquard fabrics.
2004 Jackson Furniture to open large permanent facility near Shanghai, China to quadruple capacity and grow global market share.
